About the 5GHz band
The major part of the 5 GHz band consists of unlicensed spectrum that often is used by regular Wi-Fi equipment, but over the past 15 years it has also been used as an enabler of wireless backhaul, both in the application “Last Mile Access” (Fixed Wireless Access) and for point-to-point links where masts or buildings are connected.
The allowed output power is normally 1 W, but with the right selection of antennas it is not unusual that a link can deliver hundreds of Mbps over 10’s of km.
Typical application areas at 5GHz
BWireless works primarily with Swedish Repeatit AB at 5GHz. We provide wireless unlicensed links that fits perfectly for the following application areas:
- Fiber replacement (“air fibre” or “air broadband”) for companies, organizations or private people.
- DSL/fibre replacement in rural environment
- Backhaul for surveillance cameras (CCTV)
